| How to Become an Advanced Poker Player |
|
If you are seated in an early position, you must play tight. A late position will allow you to bet loose also. You must know the hands that deserve a bet and the ones that you should overlook. This practice is what will take your game to another level. Never become predictableAs a poker player it is important that your moves are not predictable. If your opponent can judge your move correctly, you have lost the game already. In order to maintain the curiosity factor in your game, always move from one strategy to the other. So if you are playing on a tight table, shift to playing loose even if otherwise you are a tight player. On the other hand a loose playing table will demand a tight play. Build your stackThose into playing online poker tournaments should understand that stack building is integral to the game. From the very first round you are to play for the first position only. The aim should be to build a high stack by the time you enter final round. Observe tournament play and you will be able to see that those with a small stack are pushed out of the game quickly. Don’t call unless necessaryPoker is a game of raising the bets. If you are calling your opponent it should only be done when you are planning to trap him/her. So make sure you stay away from the temptation of calling too often. However, this does not mean that you go and re-raise someone who has not moved for a long time. So here too judgment calls are very important. |
